FAQ
How far can I drive?
The vans are 2WD and you can explore wherever you wish as long as it is within the 200km daily limit and not off-road.
It is always vital to check and confirm the daily limits/ cumulative total of kilometres for your booking with the RV owner before leaving to avoid any extra kilometre charge. A 200km daily limit and not off-road is usually in place however may differ from RV to RV or if prior arrangements that have been discussed.
Are pets allowed?
Each franchise has different hiring requirements surrounding pets. Please either ’make an enquiry’ with RETRO RV HQ or contact the RETRO RV owner directly.
Can I travel with kids?
Our 2-berth RETRO RV has 2 seats located in the front cabin whilst our family friendly 4-berth offers 2- front cabin seats and 2 seats in the rear.
Each Australian state has different rules surrounding car seats and especially in the front seats of vehicles (which is all our 2-berth allows for).

What fuel does the RETRO RV take?
Unleaded 98 only. Strictly no E-10.
If you are in desperate need of fuel and this is not available, we recommend that you fill up with Unleaded 95 to get to the next stop and then fill up again with this higher grade petrol as it will get you further in kilometres and the engines will love you forever. Poor quality fuel can be extremely damaging.
Is insurance included?
Unfortunately, accidents can happen when you’re on the road or on an adventure. We use Camplify as our primary and exclusive booking partner and by booking your RETRO RV through this platform Camplify ensures all vans have damage cover, protecting them against accidents and damage whilst they are on hire.
Do you offer Roadside Assistance?

We do not permit any vehicles on:

How do I operate the RETRO RV?
Operating the RETRO RV is simple. We have made a video guide that outlines and explains all the vital information when adventuring/ operating a RETRO RV.

Do I Pay for tolls or fines?
Yes - if you choose to drive via any toll roads, you will be billed for these. Luckily there are many roads AUS wide that don't have any tolls. This is the same case if you receive a parking ticket or speeding fine - you are liable to pay for these.
Can I drop the van off in a different destination to the pickup location?
No, the vans must be picked up and dropped off at the location in which it was picked up. We are located centrally throughout Australia in great and convenient spots to start exploring.
Are there a set drop off and pick up times?
We will do our best to accommodate the times that suit you. Ensure to discuss with the RV owner to agree on a time that suits you both.
